El gobierno quiere que más venezolanos puedan permitirse comprar un auto.El presidente de Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, espera que dentro de un par de meses los venezolanos puedan comprar autos "buenos, bonitos y baratos" gracias a un proyecto con Chery, la principal automotriz privada china.Los modelos Arauca y Orinoco -bautizados así por el propio Chávez- costarían entre un 40% y un 50% menos que sus competidores en el mercado venezolano y comenzaron a ser ensamblados la semana pasada.El gobierno prevé que para este año sean producidos 5.000 vehículos en una planta en Aragua, en el norte del país, y para el próximo, año electoral, más de 18.000.En Venezuela, donde los precios de la mayoría de los autos son dos o tres veces mayores que en Europa o Estados Unidos, el objetivo es que estos estén disponibles para una mayor cantidad de venezolanos.Al mismo tiempo, el gobierno de Chávez quiere reactivar la anémica fabricación de autos en Venezuela, un país donde lo usual era la vitalidad de este negocio gracias en buena parte a que cuenta con la gasolina más barata del mundo.Venezuela, que era en 2007 el cuarto mayor vendedor de autos de América Latina -tras Brasil, México y Argentina- ocupa ahora el octavo puesto, al haber caído el negocio por debajo del de Chile, Colombia, Ecuador y Perú, según las cifras de la revista venezolana Guía del Motor.
